Cedar Rapids man pleads guilty to possessing child porn

A Cedar Rapids man pleaded guilty in federal court on Thursday to downloading and possessing child pornography.

According to information released by the United States Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Iowa, Brian Lynch, 47, admitted that he used the internet to download child pornography between March 2010 and March 2013.

He also admitted that he possessed over 350 videos and more than 175 images of child porn between November 2004 and April 2013, including depictions of prepubescent children.

Lynch has not been sentenced, but faces up to 40 years in prison, a $500,000 fine and could be on supervised release for the rest of his life after serving his prison time.

Lynch will remain in the custody of the United States Marshal until sentencing.

This case was investigated by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, the DeWitt Police Department, the Cedar Rapids Police Department, and the United States Marshals Service.
