A Dubuque man is still in critical condition following a fight at Rock on the River in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin earlier this month.
Grant County Sheriff Dale McCullick says 28-year-old Joshua Milligan's condition has improved, but he remains in critical condition at Gunderson Hospital in La Crosse, Wisconsin.
McCullick says deputies working the concert on July 13 were notified at about 10:45 p.m. that a man was laying unconscious near the bathrooms in the campground area.
When deputies and medical staff arrived, they found Mulligan laying face-down in the gravel. They say he was unconscious and had apparent head injuries. He was taken to Prairie du Chien Hospital and later transported by med flight to Gunderson Hospital in La Crosse.
After interviewing everyone at the campground and all vehicles leaving the next morning, McCullick says deputies determined that Mulligan was likely hit in the head during a fight.
"The investigation has lead us to two persons of interest", stated McCullick in a written statement. "The people we are looking at are acquaintances of the victim and are also from Dubuque Iowa."
Once it was learned that all involved were from Dubuque, investigators contacted the Iowa Department of Criminal Investigation to begin a joint investigation. McCullick says search warrants have been served in both Wisconsin and Iowa.
"This is an ongoing investigation and once completed all information and evidence gathered will be turned over to the Crawford County District Attorney's office for charges", McCullick said in a written statement.
