KWWL News Anchor

Amanda Goodman is an award-winning journalist with lengthy experience as a reporter and anchor at stations in Texas and North Carolina.

A mom of two, Amanda and her husband chose to put roots down in the Cedar Valley in 2013 without a second of hesitation.

“The people here are genuine…they care about their communities," Goodman said. "It’s all about faith, family and community. It’s so important for our kids to be raised with values like those in the Midwest.”

Helping build a strong community is very important for Amanda, and that’s why she is heavily involved with Stand for the Silent, an anti-bullying initiative. It’s a passionate fight she will continue here in eastern Iowa.

“No child should ever be afraid of going to school…but that’s what is happening in our schools today,” she said.

Along with her work to end bullying, Amanda is also very involved with the March of Dimes, Go Red for Women and Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.

A native of Pennsylvania, Amanda graduated from Slippery Rock University (funny name but great school!). She is a die-hard Notre Dame fan…in fact both of her children were baptized in ND booties. Meanwhile, her fall Sundays are reserved for the Philadelphia Eagles.

When she’s not in the newsroom, Amanda and her husband are shuttling their kids, Giana and Nico, to soccer practice, dance class and everything in between.

“As a full-time journalist and full-time mom, my life can best be described as full-time chaos," she said. "But I wouldn’t want it any other way.”
