Drugstore clinics gain popularity

Posted: Updated:

Parents may choose to take sick kids to drugstore clinics instead of their established pediatricians, according to a study out of Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis.

Researchers surveyed nearly 1,500 parents, nearly a quarter of whom had used the clinics at retail chains for their kids.

They often said the retain clinics had more convenient hours than the pediatrician, or decided to go to the store clinics because they didn't think their child's illness was serious enough to warrant a pediatrician office visit.
