Hearden wins Waterloo Open amateur title

WATERLOO (KWWL) -

It was an all-Missouri Valley fight on top of the amateur leaderboard.  When the dust settled, Illinois State's Ricky Hearden walked away with a 2 stroke victory at the Waterloo Open.

Hearden battled with Cedar Rapids Kennedy alum and current Drake golfer Dane Worley all day long.  The two sat tied at 11 under par after 15 holes, but the final 2 proved to be the difference.  Worley bogeyed the 17th, while Hearden would create the final separation with a birdy at 18.

The title for Hearden was his first and likely last in the amateur division at Waterloo.  He plans on being part of the pro field in 2014.
