Mark Blakeman's first trip to the Waterloo Open was a memorable one.
The Kentucky native used a strong second day to secure a one stroke
victory and capture the $55,000 top prize. Blakeman opened the day
two strokes behind the leaders, but great play on Irv Warren's par 5
holes catapulted him to the front. Blakeman played the 5 par 5 holes 7
under par in his final round. That total included 3 eagles. Runner-up Eric Cole had a chance to tie Blakeman on the final hole, but his birdy putt came up just short and left.
