CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -
The Duck Race in Cedar Rapids had to be canceled Saturday because the water was moving too quickly to drop the rubber ducks in the water and safely get them out.
Organizers had already postponed the event once and didn't want to do it again.
The Cedar Rapids Daybreak Rotary decided to have Pluck the Duck instead. People ran into a container that was holding the ducks and picked out winning ducks.
They gave out 38 prizes to winners.
All the money raised from sponsoring ducks goes to eastern Iowa organizations that help kids and families.
"One of the key things about this duck race is that every dollar that's bought in goes to the beneficiaries, because we have great sponsors who have covered all of our costs," said Rob Gettemy with Cedar Rapids Daybreak Rotary.
