The smell of pork was in the air and beer was flowing at NewBo City Market in Cedar Rapids Saturday. It was the first BBQ & Brew event there. Eastern Iowa vendors served up their best sandwiches and beers. All the beer came from home brewers.
It was a chance for Iowans to try new food, drinks, and listen to some live music all in one place.
"We really wanted to have an event that focused on locally and Iowa-produced beer and barbeque," said Preston Moore, NewBo City Market. "There have been events here in town that have done both in the past but we really wanted to bring the best of both worlds from the state here for people to enjoy."
Some of the money raised from the cost of beer tickets will go to funding future events at the NewBo city market.
