X's fall to Fargo-Moorhead

A night after snapping an eight game losing streak, the Explorers lost to Fargo-Moorhead 2-1 on Friday at Lewis and Clark Park.

The Redhawks scored in the second inning. X's starting pitcher Jason Jarvis got Mitch Einertson to ground into a double play but Tim Alberts scored from third to make it 1-0. Fargo-Moorhead (36-23) repeated their scoring opportunity in the fourth inning when Einertson grounded out but Alberts again scored from third for a 2-0 lead.

Redhawks starter Taylor Stanton, third in the American Association in ERA, struck out ten. The Explorers pushed across a run in the eighth inning to cut the lead to 2-1 but Stanton pitched a scoreless ninth to get his third complete game victory.

Bryan Pounds had three hits to lead the Sioux City (24-35) attack.

Game three of the four game series is Saturday night at 7:05. The series finale on Sunday is at 6:05.
