CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

Emergency officials reported Saturday afternoon that the statewide 911 outage for cell phone calls has been repaired.  All 911 calls are back to functioning normally across Iowa.

Previous story:

The state of Iowa is currently experiencing a statewide 911 outage affecting all agencies around the state, according to officials in Linn County.

In an email sent to members of the press just before 7 p.m. Friday, the Linn County Sheriff's Office said all 911 calls made around the state were currently being routed to Des Moines.

"9-1-1 calls statewide are ringing into Des Moines," Linn County Sheriff Brian Gardner wrote in an email. "We have no idea how long it will take to resolve this issue."

Dispatchers with Black Hawk County said the issue wasn't an outage but that there was a "problem" with statewide 911 calls.

A dispatcher with the Iowa State Patrol in the Des Moines area said they believed the problem to be limited to cellular 911 calls, but didn't know the extent of the problem.

Gardner noted that those with emergency needs should contact their county or city's non emergency number until the situation is resolved.
