FAIRFIELD (KWWL) -

In 2008, it was 8,400 people eating corn dogs at the Iowa State Fair. In 2010, it was 7,384 people taking part in the Hokey Pokey dance at the first ever FRY Fest in Coralville.

This time, the world record will rely on facial hair -- fake facial hair, that is.

Organizers in Fairfield hope to have more than 1,532 people wearing fake mustaches at the same time to get into the Guinness Book of World Records during this year's overnight RAGBRAI stop on Friday, July 26.

Adults and children can take part, and must be able to wear a fake mustache for five minutes in order to be counted. Mustaches will be provided.

With thousands of bicyclists coming through Fairfield, organizers hope to shatter the current world record, set in Grand Rapids, Mich., earlier this year. The record was achieved by Gilda's LaughFest on March 7.

The annual RAGBRAI begins in Council Bluffs on Sunday and ends in Fort Madison on July 27.
