Local chef puts on baseball clinic for Waterloo kids

WATERLOO (KWWL) -

A popular local chef treated some kids to some baseball knowledge this afternoon.

Henry Rodriguez, the head chef at the Isle Casino and Hotel in Waterloo, put on a baseball clinic for the Boys and Girls Club of Waterloo today.

Rodriguez is a native of Puerto Rico, where he grew up playing baseball alongside major league greats like the Molina brothers.

As a young man, he was a part of the boys and girls club and eventually played some college ball himself.

Rodriguez says he wants to share his knowledge with young people.

"I've played baseball all my life, and I'm giving back to these kids the little bit of knowledge that I have, not that I have ... know a lot. But, the little bit that I have and give it to these kids, they can do something with it, keep them out of the streets. That's what is important."
