Area chef treats youth to baseball clinic

WATERLOO (KWWL) -

A popular local chef treated some Cedar Valley kids to a baseball clinic Wednesday afternoon.

Henry Rodriguez, the head chef at the Isle Casino and Hotel in Waterloo, hosted the clinic for the Boys and Girls Club.

Rodriguez is a native of Puerto Rico, where he grew up playing baseball alongside major league greats like the Molina brothers. As a young man, he was part of the Boys and Girls Club himself and eventually went on to play collegiate baseball.

Rodriguez says he feels the need to share his knowledge with young people.

The clinic is an effort to promote physical activity in young men and women who are not involved in organized sports.
