New test approved to diagnose ADHD

The Food and Drug Administration has approved a brain wave test that is intended to help doctors diagnose cases of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder or ADHD.

The test attaches sensors to a child's head and uses an EEG to measure brain waves. According to experts, children with ADHD tend to have a specific pattern of certain brain waves.

The device, which is called a "neuropsychiatric EEG-based assessment aid" is meant to be used in combination with other tools to diagnose ADHD.
