Cedar Valley families enjoy Outdoor Day

Posted: Updated:
WATERLOO (KWWL) -

It was a beautiful day to be outside on Sunday and that's the thought behind Cedar Valley Family Outdoor Day.  Families came to George Wyth State Park in Waterloo for a number of outdoor activities.

They could try their hand at archery, spend time in a kayak, or one of the other favorite pastimes at George Wyth, fishing.

No matter what activity kids choose, the point is to do it outside.

"Just to be outside, get away from the video games, we'll come out on the bike trail and go biking, go for a run, go for a walk, just come out and have a picnic. Just get outside, get some fresh air and with the Blue Zones project going on in the Cedar Valley it's a great place to start some of those activities," said Lori Eberhard, park manager at George Wyth State Park.

Fishing poles were given away to the first 100 kids that showed up Sunday.  They were gone within 15 minutes.

Today's event was sponsored by Impact Outdoors and the Cedar Valley Walleye Club.
