Bicyclist airlifted after Linn County accident

LINN COUNTY (KWWL) -

A Mount Vernon woman was airlifted to a Cedar Rapids hospital after an accident Monday morning.

Linn County deputies were called to the 1300 block of West Mount Vernon Road at around 7:33 Monday morning after a report of car versus bicycle accident.

Deputies say 33-year-old Megan Poulette of Mount Vernon was riding her bicycle eastbound on Mount Vernon Road when she was hit by an SUV driven by 26-year-old Michelle Hess of Mount Vernon.

Deputies say Hess tried to pass Poulette in a no passing zone.

Poulette, who was wearing a helmet, was flown to Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids to be treated for serious injuries

Hess was ticketed for passing in a no passing zone.
