Bucks win 7th straight with dramatic walk-off win

Posted: Updated:

It took 3 hours, 45 minutes, and 15 innings, but the Waterloo Bucks kept their winning streak alive.  Waterloo got a 2 strike, 2 out, walk-off double from John Ziznewski scoring 2 runs giving the Bucks an 8-7 win over Rochester on Sunday.

The Bucks appeared in control in the 8th inning with a 6-2 lead, but Rochester scored 4 runs in the frame which eventually led to extra innings.

Both teams had opportunities over the next 6 innings, but couldn't manage to plate any runs.  That changed in the top of the 15th, when Rochester's Max Murphy lined a base hit to right scoring Kalei Hanawahine for a 7-6 lead.

Waterloo managed to put a pair of runners on base with one out, but after Connor McClain flew out to shallow right for out number 2, the outcome looked bleak.  With the Bucks down to their final strike, Ziznewski came through with a hard shot to the gap in right-center that would reach the wall.  Marcos Calderon scored motored around from first to score the game's winning run.

The Bucks will look to extend their current streak to 8 straight wins as they travel to Alexandria on Monday.
