WATERLOO (KWWL) -

Democratic state Representative Anesa Kajtazovic is considering a run for Iowa's First Congressional District in 2014.

U.S. Representative Bruce Braley announced this year he will be running for U.S. Senator Tom Harkin's Senate seat.

Kajtazovic says she will be organizing an exploratory committee and a listening tour, but still isn't sure when she will start that 20 county tour.

"Our country is at a critical juncture where many people are losing faith in the ability of government to address their concerns," said Kajtazovic in a prepared statement.

"We need leaders in Washington who can address these issues, fight for the middle class and restore the faith in our democracy."

Former Iowa Speaker of the House Pat Murphy of Dubuque and Cedar Rapids councilwoman Monica Vernon are also running for House as Democrats.

Cedar Rapids businessman Steve Rathje is the only Republican in the race, so far.
