The City of Coralville celebrated the July 4th holiday with a parade this morning.

More than 100 floats and vehicles took part in this year's Fourth Fest parade, including fire departments from surrounding towns and local businesses. Even Herky the Hawkeye was on hand.

The parade is not only a great way to celebrate the nation's freedom but also a good way for businesses to be seen in the community, residents said.

"It gets the people together, it promotes a lot of the businesses," said Pam Kacmarynski, the Fourth Fest parade coordinator. "When they're in the parade, it gets (businesses) out there and shows (residents) where they are and who they are."

Coralville's Fourth Fest concludes tonight with fireworks starting around 10 p.m.
