CEDAR FALLS (KWWL) -

Cedar Falls City Council member Tom Hagarty announced this week he does not intend to seek reelection for a fourth term on the city council.

Hagarty has represented Ward 1 for 12 years on the council, since being elected in 2002.

He's a retired manager from the Waterloo Post Office, and had been with the Postal Service since 1970. Hagarty also served as a medic in the US Air Force during the Vietnam era.

In a statement, he said, "I will treasure all the memories of working with and being the advocate for Ward 1 and being a member of the Cedar Falls City Council."

Hagarty's current term ends December 31, 2013.
