WATERLOO (KWWL) -

Political groups opposing cuts in Social Security rallied outside congressional offices and federal buildings across the country Tuesday.

One of those protests took place outside of Sen. Chuck Grassley's Waterloo office.

Members of Americans for Democratic Action and the Iowa Alliance for Retired Americans are fighting proposed changes with the Chained Consumer Price Index.

The groups claim that by changing the Cost of Living Adjustment, cuts will be made to Social Security benefits.

Those assembled support another bill, proposed by Sen. Tom Harkin, called the "Strengthening Social Security Act of 2013."
