Anamosa Football Field, Walworth Ave.

Anamosa's "Old Fashioned Fourth of July" will be held at the football field and stadium on the south side of town. Anamosa's own "voice," Scott Werling, will be the master of ceremonies for the evening.

The activities start with a flag retirement ceremony at 6:30 p.m. conducted by the AmVets.

At 7 p.m., the children's "Red, White and Blue" parade will make its way around the track. Children under 12 years of age may participate. Those under 7 must be accompanied by an adult.

Everyone is encouraged to wear patriotic clothing and decorate tricycles, wagons, strollers and bicycles that are smaller than 20 inches. No motorized vehicles will be allowed. There is no cost and no preregistration. The parade will line up at the south end of the track by the restrooms. Participation prizes will be given out courtesy of the AmVets.

After the parade, family fun games will be played on the field.

A historical pageant at 8 p.m. will feature events from our nation's history.

Anyone who would like to volunteer to help at these events should call Loretta at (319) 462-2183 or Jennifer at (319) 462-5030.

The concession stand will be open, serving food and cold drinks.

The fireworks display, sponsored by the Anamosa Rotary and set off by Anamosa Fire Department volunteers, begins at dusk. Anamosa Rotary members will circulate through the crowd collecting donations for the fireworks.
