Balloons light up Cedar Rapids sky in front of thousands

CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

The skies of Cedar Rapids lit up Monday night. It was the annual Freedom Festival Balloon Glow. Five hot air balloons were on display at the Brucemore Estate and all lit up at the same time. More than 13,000 people filled the lawn there. Event organizers say that's the biggest crowd they've ever had at the Balloon Glow.

"People love to come out to Brucemore," said Robyn Rieckhoff, Freedom Festival Executive Director. "The grounds are beautiful. The weather is great. It's so much fun. It's just a great community event."

Before it was dark enough for the Balloon Glow, there was live music, plenty of food, and activities for kids to enjoy.
