DES MOINES (KWWL) -

Officials say a new radio ad for Iowa Student Loan Liquidity Corporation may be misleading for potential college students and parents.

The ads cause confusion on whether federal or private student loans are the best option for students.

Experts say federal loans offer the lowest interest rates.

The new ads aired by the nonprofit organization compare its private loans to federal loans and encourage borrowers to choose its loan.

The Iowa Attorney General's spokesman Geoff Greenwood says officials will work with Iowa Student Loan to make sure the benefits of private and federal student loans are made clear to consumers.
