WATERLOO (KWWL) -

Hundreds of people packed downtown Cedar Falls for the last day of Sturgis Falls.

Sunday's big events were the car show and the arts and crafts show.

Organizers say they were glad the potential for flooding didn't affect the festivities.

"We did have (to) fence off some area lower-lying," said Jay Stoddard, Sturgis Falls President. "This area here is tiled so it dumps into the ditch over there, but if it had come up another foot-and-a-half, two feet, this park would have also been affected and we would not have been able to have it here."

Stoddard says last year was the most profitable year out of the 37-year history. He says this year may top those earnings.
