JESUP (KWWL) -
A fund has been established for 24-year-old Derek Martie as he continues to fight for his life at an Iowa City hospital.
Investigators believe Martie and his girlfriend, 20-year-old Kate Leekley, were hit by a drunk driver last weekend. Leekley died from her injuries.
Donations to offset medical expenses for Martie can be made at the Bank of Iowa in Jesup under the "Benefit for Derek Martie" fund.
All the money will help with medical expenses.
Family members said Martie continues to make progress, but he is still on life support. He is scheduled to have another surgery Monday.
An additional fund has been established for Kate Leekley's family; donations for the "Kate Leekley Benefit Fund" can be made at any Veridian Credit Union or online: https://fundrazr.com/campaigns/6Xqza
