CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

Iowa's Outstanding Senior Volunteer was recognized for her efforts Saturday. A reception was held in honor of Elizabeth Kacere at the Witwer Senior Center in Cedar Rapids. That's one of the places where Kacere volunteers.

The 82-year-old was honored as a part of the Salute to Senior Service program sponsored by Home Instead Senior Care. Kacere received two $500 checks to donate to the charity of her choice. She chose the Witwer Center.

"I've always wanted to help people and this is my chance," said Kacere. "All my life I have dedicated to helping anyone that needs it."

As the state winner, Kacere will be included on the Salute to Senior Service Wall of Fame.
