CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

Downtown Cedar Rapids turned into a sea of red, white and blue Saturday morning. The annual Freedom Festival Parade rolled through the streets of downtown.

There were plenty of patriotic floats and bands and even Uncle Sam walked the parade route. Many groups handed out candy for the kids.

All entries in the parade had to have a red, white, and blue theme to show off American pride.

"What I like about parades is that we get to see the Army come and do bands and the veterans coming home," said Michaela Carpenter, of Cedar Rapids.

The parade is just one of the many events honoring Fourth of July in Cedar Rapids. Freedom Festival is actually a two-week long celebration of the holiday.
