INDEPENDENCE (KWWL) -

About 100 people came to a vigil Friday night to support the Posey family. The family's seven-year-old daughter, Jaileigh, died in a fire in Independence early Friday morning.

People lit candles and stood together to remember Jaileigh Posey, and to pray for the other members of the family.

Jaileigh's father, Steve, is an assistant coach on the Independence High School softball team. Players said Jaileigh would often attend practices and games.

"She always had a smile. She was so energetic, so excited to be there and play softball. You could tell she was just going to be a great softball player. She was a little thing but just so quick. Always darting around, having a good time. She's really going to be missed," said team co-captain Stephanie McMillan.

Team members say they'll continue to support the Posey family.

Friday night, they also helped raise money for the family during Independence's baseball game.
