Former Hawk making it big in the WWE

Posted: Updated:
CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

Ettore Ewen only played one year for the Iowa football team, but has since been building up name recognition in the WWE.

Ewen, now known as Big E Langston, is in Cedar Rapids this weekend for the WWE Live event at the US Cellular Center.

He first began in professional wrestling in 2009 spending his early years in development.  Late last year, he made it on to the WWE's elite roster.

While at Iowa, teammates considered Ewen to be somewhat introverted.  Wrestling has completely changed that.

"I remember people telling me, guys I played ball with were wondering 'can you really do this?'  'Is it something you can really do?' because I was a guy who kept to myself," Ewen said, "I was a little social, but not that much. Doing this has allowed me to get out of my shell, be myself, and have fun.  It's something that was a bit of a surprise to some people, but I've had a blast."
