DUBUQUE (KWWL) -

Lightning may be to blame in an apartment fire in Dubuque Wednesday morning.

Firefighters responded to a call on the 2600 block of Owen Court in Dubuque. They were called on a report of smoke coming from one of the apartment's ceiling fans.

When crews arrived on scene, they saw smoke and fire in the attic.

Rick Steines, Assistant Fire Chief with the Dubuque Fire Department, said the fire is still under investigation.

"There was a report of a lightning strike earlier this morning and some problems with the electrical after that in the building," Steines said. "So it's likely that the ceiling fan may have been just a symptom of a bigger problem."

The Dubuque Fire Department says the fire is still under investigation. No injuries have been reported.
