NEW HARTFORD (KWWL) -

In an effort to prevent flooding, sandbagging efforts began Tuesday evening in New Hartford.

Volunteers are welcome to join the effort by reporting to the New Hartford Fire Department. 

So far there have not been any mandatory evacuations, but a KWWL reporter on the scene says some residents are leaving town.

    The first-ever Run the Bases 5K/10K will be hosted by the Cedar Valley SportsPlex on Saturday, August 16. All proceeds will benefit Build Our Ballpark.
