Big Ten likely to add 2 California bowls

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (KWWL) -

Big Ten officials have announced a Monday press conference with representatives of a pair of California Bowls.  Reps from the Holiday and Kraft Fight Hunger Bowls along with PAC-12 commissioner Larry Scott will be present.

The press conference indicates the Big Ten will likely be adding both bowls to the postseason line-up beginning in the 2014 season.

The Holiday Bowl is familiar to Hawkeye fans.  Iowa played in three of them with wins over San Diego State and Wyoming in 1986 and 1987.  The Hawks tied BYU in the 1991 game.  The conference dropped their affiliation with the game after the 1994 season.

The Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl, now in it's 12th season, has never been affiliated with the Big Ten.  Illinois, however, was selected as an at-large team to the 2011 game.
