Jones Golf Course has slow start after reopening

Posted: Updated:
CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

Jones Golf Course in Cedar Rapids re-opened this weekend after being closed for nearly a month due to flooding.

The spring floods did some pretty heavy damage to the back nine holes, so only the front nine will be open this season. Some modifications were made in order to re-open those holes.

Despite finally re-opening, business at the course was pretty slow.

"We want people to know that we are open, we are taking tee times," said Dustin Petrik, Assistant Golf Pro. "Business hasn't been too busy right now because we've had a lot of rain, also, but we expect it to pick up."

Workers at the golf course say the closure hurt the course's income, but weren't sure how much money was lost. They're hoping for a dry summer.
