IOWA CITY (KWWL) -

A man is in custody after a standoff that lasted 13 hours in Iowa City.  52-year-old Troy Perkins was arrested at his home on Bluffwood Lane.  Two people who were in the house with him were not hurt.  Perkins was arrested on three outstanding warrants, as well as charges of assault while displaying a weapon and first-degree harassment.

Officers were initially called to the scene around 7 p.m. Friday after a 911 call of a domestic disturbance in which a handgun was shown.  Outside the house, police talked to a 38-year-old woman who made the 911 call.  They then learned there was a 8-year-old girl and an elderly woman both inside the home with Perkins.  Officers also learned of three outstanding warrants for Perkins' arrest.

Authorities were able to talk to Perkins on the phone, but say he cut off conversation around 1:30 a.m.  The Iowa City Police Special Response Team went in to the house around 8 a.m. Saturday and arrested Perkins without incident.  He is currently in the Johnson County Jail.
