Students prepare to send school supplies to Moore, Okla.

A month ago, a group of kids from Shell Rock began collecting school supplies for students affected by the tornado that destroyed parts of Moore, Okla. A month ago, a group of kids from Shell Rock began collecting school supplies for students affected by the tornado that destroyed parts of Moore, Okla.

The children, ages 8 to 11, will send the supplies south Friday at noon.

The group collected enough to fill 400 backpacks. They estimate each bag has about $50 in supplies.

Through the gathering process, students and community members from as far as Spencer donated items.

They have coordinated with the Oklahoma School Board Association to distribute the supplies.
