DUBUQUE (KWWL) -

Many third through seventh grade girls walked down the runway Friday afternoon in Dubuque. The girls were a part of Capri College's summer camp for girls. The camp provides education on fashion, exercise, skin and hair care. But it also teaches girls the importance of beauty, both on the inside and out.

Samantha Schroeder is a cosmetology instructor at Capri College and helps run the camp. She say's the camp helps teach girls the importance of promoting self recognition.

"Beauty is totally on the inside. We don't go over hair, makeup and nails very much. Most of it is being confident and making sure that other people know they should be confident to and they shouldn't judge each other by the cover of the book." Schroeder said.

Along with promoting self recognition, the camp also encourages self esteem and enhancing personal growth.
