JOHNSON COUNTY (KWWL) -

Johnson County is among the top 50 healthiest counties in the nation for kids, according to a U.S. News report.

According to the report, Johnson County comes in at 12th place. The ranking takes into account environmental and economic factors that affect the health of children under the age of 18.

However, even the highest-ranked counties still struggle with large numbers of children in poverty and high teen birth rates.

The top-ranked county is Marin County, a suburb north of San Francisco.
