CORALVILLE (KWWL) -

Fallen firefighters were honored Sunday morning in Coralville at the 19th Annual Firefighters Memorial.

Firefighters and families gathered to honor and remember the firefighters that lost their lives while serving their communities.

Family members placed flowers and other gifts as a way to honor and celebrate the lives of all firefighters.

One hundred and eleven names will be added to the wall this year -- all Iowa firefighters who have died.

"It's for the firefighters and their families, especially the families, of those who have gone on before us," said Mike Reuman, chairman of the Iowa Firefighters Memorial Committee.

Iowa is the first state to have a firefighters' memorial and visitor center showing the state's dedication to the state's firefighters and to safety education.
