Beer lovers head to first Corridor Beer Festival

Posted: Updated:
CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

You had to be 21 or older to get into Greene Square Park in Cedar Rapids Saturday afternoon. That's because the park was the setting for the first ever Corridor Beer Festival.

29 vendors served up more than 100 different styles of beer.

Organizers went to a beer festival in Chicago and thought that Iowa needed a similar event, a way to try different craft beers at once.

"You go to the grocery stores, there's craft beer all over the place now, tap handles are all over the place now," said Mark Vande Haar. event organizer. "It's a fun beer to drink. There's a lot of passion behind it."

Several of the breweries at the festival were from right here in Iowa but some traveled from as far as California to serve at the event.
