Dyersville Farm Toy Show Brings Tourists to Eastern Iowa

DYERSVILLE (KWWL) -

Thousands of tractors, trucks and construction toy enthusiasts made there way to Dyersville Friday. This weekend is the Dyersville Farm Toy Show, a show expected to bring thousands to the area. This is the 28th year for the farm toy show. At the show, farm enthusiasts will be able to travel to 110 different vendors who will be trading and selling different farm toys. Toys included in the show are: construction toys, tractors, trucks, race cars, buckles, old cast iron toys and agricultural collectibles.

On Friday, Glenn Hoffman and his wife sat selling all different types of farm toys including trucks and tractors. The couple made there way to Dyersville from Marathon City, Wisconsin.

Hoffman says, he enjoys traveling to different toy shows across the United States.

"We do shows from Denver to New York State, Rochester, New York...We get around to a lot of shows." Hoffman said.

As a former collector, Hoffman has many toys for sale for those toy show enthusiasts. But for Hoffman these shows are not just about selling toys. He also enjoys purchasing new toys as well as meeting different people.

"Oh it's wonderful you have the true doctors and lawyers and anyone can do this. Everybody is equal when you get here." Hoffman said.

Amenda Schwartz is a manager at the National Farm Toy Museum in Dyersville, she also says the farm toy show is unique in that you can meet people so many different people.

"A lot of people love to just meet and talk to other people that are of like mind. They love to sit and visit and reminisce and look at what's new and exciting." Schwartz said.

The Dyersville Farm Toy Show will continue Saturday from 9 A.M. to 4 P.M. Admission to the care show is $5.00 per person, with children ages 12 and under free to attend. Admissions does grant free admission to the National Farm Toy Museum.
