CORALVILLE (KWWL) -

The State Fire Marshall is presenting United States flags to the family and the fire department of two fallen firefighters this weekend.

The 19th Annual Firefighter Memorial Ceremony will honor Gilmore City Fire Chief Larry Nielsen and Logan Firefighter Daniel D. Penrod.

Nielsen died while responding to a barn fire on October 9, 2012. He suffered a heart attack at the scene. Nielsen served the Gilmore City Fire Department for 41 years. His family will accept a flag in his honor at this weekend's ceremony.

Penrod was responding to a fire on October 9, 1905 when a chimney collapsed, killing him immediately. No relatives could be located for Penrod so his flag will be presented to the Logan Fire Department.

The ceremony is at the Firefighter Memorial in Coralville on Sunday. It starts at 10:30 a.m.
