Today is National Doughnut Day. The so-called holiday has been celebrated on the first Friday of June since a Chicago area fundraiser for the Salvation Army in 1938.
To celebrate this day, KWWL sent Photojournalist Tim Getting out to find the best doughnuts in the Cedar Valley. He did a web search for local bakeries within a 20-mile radius of the station and ended up checking out three places: Waverly Home Bakery, La Porte City Bakery and Johnson's Bakery in Waterloo.
After six doughnuts and a few sugar rushes, Getting decided that, "Doughnuts are like children. You can't pick a favorite."
