Some residents want Linn County to restructure

Posted: Updated:

Some people in Linn County think the county should change its form of government.

Two residents and county auditor Joel Miller are working to collect 10,000 signatures on a petition before the end of July.

If they're successful, the county will have to form a charter commission to study the way Linn County operates, and possibly recommend a new system.

"A charter commission could actually look at the entire county, look at the offices, look at individually employees and decide to reorganize," said Miller.

If the commission decides the county should reorganize, their recommendation would then be put on a ballot for voters to decide.

Miller and the others collecting signatures would like to see part-time county supervisors and a full-time county manager.
