Simple test could help diagnose cancer

A common household product could be helpful to save thousands of women from dying of cervical cancer, according to NBC News.

A large study of women in India, where advanced screenings we have in the United States, are generally unavailable, found that swabbing the cervix with vinegar can help doctors diagnose the disease.

If the cervix turns white within in 1 minute, it signifies a pre-cancerous change in the tissue.

When compared to no screening, the standard of care in Iowa, this screening method could reduce cervical cancer deaths by almost one third, according to Indian researchers.

Experts estimate that this test could prevent almost 73,000 deaths in developing nations world wide.
