CEDAR RAPIDS (KWWL) -

17,000 people filled downtown Cedar Rapids Saturday morning for the first Downtown Farmers Market of the season.

There's more than 200 vendors at the market making it one of the largest in the Midwest. The vendors include your usual fresh fruit and veggies but there's also plenty of people selling baked goods and even art and clothing.

This is the eighth season of the downtown market, which closes down several streets in Cedar Rapids.

"This is something that people really can rely on," said Dee Baird, Cedar Rapids Metro Economic Alliance. "We've had quality vendors but people want to get outside and they want to enjoy kind of the core of downtown and see what's happening."

There's seven more Downtown Farmers Market dates set for this summer. The next one will be held on Saturday, June 15th.
