1A Boys Substate Soccer: Columbus beats Gladbrook-Reinbeck on PK's

Defending One-A Boys State Soccer champion Waterloo Columbus beats Gladbrook-Reinbeck 2-1 on penalty kicks in a substate championship game to earn a trip back to state.  The win is Columbus's 12th in a row, the Sailors will play West Liberty in the first round at state on Thursday afternoon at 12:05 pm.

The Sailors scored the only goal in the first period on a penalty kick by freshman Isaac Squires in the game's 35th minute.  The Rebels scored the only goal of the second half on a 20 yard blast from Dustin Dinsdale in the games' 65th minute.  The game went through two overtime periods and into the penalty kick phase.  Sailor Goalkeeper Jon Maas stopped two penalty kicks and Rebels' Goalkeeper Josh Cooley stopped one allowing Columbus to advance.
