PHOENIX (KWWL) -

Former Cyclone star Jeff Hornacek will reportedly become the next head coach of the Phoenix Suns.  ESPN.com reports that he and the Suns have agreed on a 3 year deal.

Hornacek spent the last 6 years as an assistant coach for the Utah Jazz.  Prior to that, he had a 14 year NBA career which began in Phoenix.  He was the 2nd round pick for the Suns in 1986 and spent 6 years with the team, which included his lone all-star selection in 1992.

At Iowa State, he graduated as the team's career and single season assists leader.  He was the 4th Cyclone player to have his jersey number retired.

This is Hornacek's first head coaching job in the NBA.
