CHARLES CITY (KWWL) -

Flood waters may be the cause of a train derailment Monday in Charles City.

The fire department was called to the derailment east of Charles City, near the intersection of Windfall Avenue and 190th Street around 11:30 p.m.

The train had about 80 cars and most of them contained ethanol.

Officials say they had difficulties getting to the derailment due to rising flood waters on the Little Cedar River.

There were two engineers that made their way to the top of one of the locomotives.

It took emergency workers two hours before they could get the engineers down safely.

No one was injured.
