Police say a three-year-old boy hit by a car in Dubuque has passed away.  Dubuque Police and fire officials responded to the 1500 block of Main Street on Monday at 7 p.m. for a report of a child hit by a vehicle.  

Dubuque Police say Edgar D. Joel, 3, of Dubuque, ran into the street, and struck by a car driven by 59-year-old Donald Makovec, also of Dubuque.

Joel suffered serious injuries, and paramedics airlifted him to the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics.  Joel died the next afternoon.

Dubuque Police are still investigating this incident and county prosecutors have not yet filed any charges.

Dubuque police are also investigating an un-related crash, that happened just before 1 a.m. Tuesday.

Dubuque police and fire officials responded to the 1300 block of South Grandview Avenue for a report of a motorcycle crash.

Cory Bailey Sr., 30, of Dubuque, struck a legally parked, unoccupied vehicle, according to police.

Bailey suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics, where he, too, remained a patient as of noon Tuesday.
